This is a history! A surviving Daguerreotype will be put in an auction, and if sold, it would be the most expensive commercially made camera. I first read about Daguerreotype in a book of photography history, and it fascinates me. Imagine us in today world, being introduced to a flying car that emit zero pollution. Yes, this camera was at the very edge of photography technology and science when it was introduced. Why, because it made proper photographs (compare to other less effective/permanent techniques), and people can actually use it!
What 35mm film? you have to prepare your own plate (covered with photo-sensitive chemicals) to take photo. And you need long long exposure time for it. Think something like 1-30 minutes. NO I DON'T WANT TO TAKE PORTRAITS WITH THIS!!!
And the best part of it? They're starting the auction at €200,000 and might end up somewhere at €700,000! That is over RM3.3 millions!
